Rare first version original of the No.9 (also known as No.6009) designed by Michael Thonet, manufactured by Thonet-Mundus in 1925. The No.9 is considered to have been designed in the end of 19^th century and introduced around 1900. The first version of the model was produced in 1911-1930. Marked: Thonet label and engraved stamp

It features a functional, clean design with rounded seat and a beautifully curved backrest and armrests. The elegant organic shape is the greatest tradition of the Thonet innovative wood-bending technique. Originally designed as a comfortable desk chair, it has become an enduring design masterpiece with its versatility of use in various interior settings. With Thonet’s ingenuity and modern design, this armchair was adored by modernist architects like Swiss architect Le Corbusier who used it in many of his building in the 20s and 30s, including the Werkbund exhibition - Weissenhof Estate in Stuttgart in 1927. American design pioneers Charles and Ray Eames also used it in their own iconic villa.

This model is still production today by Thonet GmbH (as No.209 since 1950), TON (as No.30 since 1953) and Gebrüder Thonet Vienna (as Wiener Stuhl since 1976). Although similar, they have some design form that differ from the first version.


Condition:
In excellent original condition with a new handwoven cane. Some signs of wear consistent with age and use.

ミヒャエル・トーネットによってデザインされ、1925年にThonet-Mundus社で製作された、アームチェア No.9（別名 No.6009）の初期モデル。No.9 は19世紀末に構想され、1900年頃に発表されたと考えられています。初期型は1911年から1930年の間に製造され、本作にはThonetのラベルと刻印が残されています。

丸みを帯びた座面と、滑らかな曲線を描く背もたれ・アームが特徴。
この有機的で優雅なフォルムは、トーネットの革新的な曲木技術の伝統を象徴しています。もともとは快適なデスクチェアとして設計されましたが、その普遍的な美しさと用途の広さから、時代を超えて愛され続ける名作となりました。

スイスの建築家 ル・コルビュジエはこの椅子を好み、1920〜30年代にかけて多くの建築で採用しました。1927年のヴァイセンホーフ・ジードルンク（ドイツ工作連盟展）でも使用され、後にアメリカのデザイン夫妻チャールズ＆レイ・イームズも、自邸でこの椅子を用いたといわれています。

このモデルは現在もなお生産が続いており、Thonet GmbHでは1950年以降「No.209」として、TON社では1953年以降「No.30」として、Gebrüder Thonet Viennaでは1976年以降「Wiener Stuhl」として製造されています。それぞれ微細なデザインの違いを持ちながらも、初期モデルの精神を継承しています。


コンディション：
新たに籐を張り替えた以外はオリジナルの状態をよく保っています。
時代と使用に伴うわずかな風合いが見られますが、全体として非常に良好なコンディションです。
