Very rare from 1949, a purer Bauhaus. It is also called ‘Menzel chair’. The first chipless bent plywood chair, made of 29 layers of resin-drenched plywood. The chair has no screws or any other pieces of metal.
One of the most important post-war designs of DDR (Deutsche Demokratische Republik) - GDR(German Democratic Republic). Manufactured by Deutsche Werkstätten Hellerau. The chair was never mass-produced, a maximum of 5,000 of it and more than half of it is gone.
