One of the first chairs, the Grass-Seated Chair is designed by American-Japanese George Nakashima, a master of woodworker, architect, modernist furniture designer. An iconic form in American black walnut with a curvaceous backrest and six spindles on square natural seagrass woven seat is finely structured with his exquisite craftmanship. It is originally created for MoMA’s René D’Harnoncourt in the 1940s, when he had first moved to New Hope, Pennsylvania. This organic design compliments the elegance and the natural beauty of wood.  

The chair marked "28" in ink, “882” in pencil to underside.

グラス・シーテッド・チェアは、日系アメリカ人であるジョージ・ナカシマによって最も初期にデザインされた椅子の一つ。アメリカン・ブラック・ウォールナットの象徴的なフォルムに、曲線的な背もたれ、6本のスピンドルや天然シーグラスで編まれた正方形の座面は、彼の精巧な職人技によって精巧に構成されている。1940年代、彼がペンシルベニア州ニューホープに移り住んだばかりの頃、MoMAのルネ・ダルノンクールのために製作されたものである。この有機的なデザインは、エレガンスと木の自然な美しさを引き立てている。

チェアにはインクで「28」、裏面に鉛筆で「882」と記されている。
